"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18)

Gentle giants...

And finally, my favorite animal... It was awesome to hand feed them and so cool that they had babies! An interesting fact from our guide: the giraffe is the only animal that gives birth standing up. The baby's 6 foot fall stimulates breathing. Also, the males are much darker than females (as you can see here).
I don't think wildlife photography is really my thing. I prefer people, but we sure had a fun day. It was good to get out of the city and enjoy God's creation.

Cheetah...

Best attempt to make the chain link fence disappear. Would so love to see this guy in action!

Random...

The addox are critically endangered. I was diggin' the shadow.
Blackbuck, then kudu...both near threatened.
(Don't be too impressed with my knowledge. Bob brought a little info booklet.)
Can't resist a pic of one of the adorable little boys we rode with. He was 2 and spent the whole two hours just like this. :) Won't it be fun when Hannah's a little older?

White tail deer...

These aren't actually endangered, but the guide told us they've wandered onto the reserve and were clever enough to stay.
Check out the ears on this fawn! :)

Axis deer...

Loved this little family...Daddy here stood and marked his territory the whole time we were stopped. Can we say Photoshop?
We were lucky to catch "Bambi" having a snack. A moment later, mama got nervous about a nearby animal and just walked away....closed up shop with no warning! :)

Love in the air...

Loved the view from the lookout.
On the way down those steep hills, the jeep brakes were squealing, which apparently reminded this red deer of his girlfriend. :) He bugled his mating call every time in response. Funny!!!

Fossil Rim...

Bob, Kara and I enjoyed our day at the wildlife refuge. We hadn't been there for about 20 years. Last time we drove our own car through, but we decided to give Bob a rest and take the family tour this time. We learned a few things and it was nice and breezy in the open air jeep!
